The Challenge
To build a platform that is accessible for both youth workers and youth “participants” to exchange ideas, collaborate and participate in a mock election. This platform required users to be able to register their accounts, build and participate in a community register for election and then vote with their peers on election day.
The solution
A web based application with a WordPress front end and custom backend solutions to ensure all of the requirements are met. With an evolving timeline and requirements for the project this platform needed to be able to be built with future development and features in mind.
An online forum that could be accessed and posted on by any of the users with multiple different user types to reflect the nature of the project. On top of this a detailed event creation system needed to be built to allow any of the users to set up and manage events, invite other users to the events and exchange details.
Another priority of the project was to educate the users on the workings of the European frameworks and how they can get involved in the democratic process. To do this we developed a series of informational pages and content to share data with the intended users.
